CCMI Concussion Services
Tick Performance Allied Health Services is a proud clinic of the Complete Concussion Management Inc.™ (CCMI) Partnership Program – a network of clinics around the world offering evidence-based concussion care.
From initial pre-season baseline testing to concussion treatment and rehabilitation, as partnered CCMI practitioners, we collaborate with primary care physicians to co-manage concussions, helping patients and athletes safely return to learn, work and play.
What is a concussion?
A concussion is a brain injury caused by acceleration or deceleration of the brain within the skull
following a significant impact to the head or elsewhere on the body. The impact causes a biochemical imbalance within the brain cells, resulting in decreased blood flow and temporary energy deficits within the brain. Symptoms may include loss of consciousness, headache, pressure in the head, neck pain, nausea or vomiting, dizziness, or balance problems, among others.
To further understand what a concussion is, watch this video for an in-depth whiteboard demonstration from Dr. Cameron Marshall (@Concussion_Doc)!
In conjunction with CCMI, we offer concussion treatment services & strategies including:
· Exertional testing for return-to-sport readiness and sub-symptom threshold exercise programs for persistent symptoms
· vestibular, oculomotor, and cervical spine rehabilitation
· balance, reaction time, visual processing, and neurocognitive testing (pre-season baseline and/or post-injury/return to sport testing)
· Educational resources
During the early stage following injury, a period of relative symptom-limited physical and cognitive rest is recommended. Research suggests 24 to 48 hours, however, these decisions are made on a case-by-case basis.
Following a short period of rest, the International Consensus Statement on Concussion in Sport (2016) recommends a gradual increase in mental and physical activity by a licensed healthcare practitioner trained in concussion management.
Multimodal pre-season testing is a series of physical and cognitive tests that provides a pre-injury overview of healthy brain function. These tests can offer healthcare practitioners with an objective benchmark on which to compare should a patient sustain a concussion. It’s important to remember that not all baseline testing is created equal. CCMI has selected the best evidence-based tools available to provide you with comprehensive, multimodal, proven baseline-testing.
As concussion symptoms often disappear days to weeks before the brain has recovered, having valuable baseline information may help practitioners to make safer return to play decisions.

HEAR FROM OUR CLIENTS
I was suffering servere lower back pain and numbness in my leg and arm. The doctors "didn't know" what was wrong. Just after 2 visits to tick physio I started to get feeling back in my arm and leg. The staff at tick physio are genuinely caring and actually listen to their clients. I'd recommend them to anyone!
I love all the classes I’ve tried at tick, especially Scott’s yoga class. The vibe is friendly and welcoming for all abilities and ages. The class is more than just stretching and exercise; Scott offers the yogic philosophy throughout the practice, starting with what I love - setting our intentions for the practice at the beginning and offering insights and focus along the way. I love the mix of using traditional yoga terminology for the poses and also terms we know and love. I find the class nourishing for my mind, body and spirit and a chance to slow down in our hectic week. Love love love it!
Great team and atmosphere. Lots of support as needed and fun along the way. Classes and physio personal training exercise physiology and massage.
Finally found my kind of gym. I've loved every session so far. The trainers really seem to care for and look after each client. I feel safe in their hands. My only complaint is that Mindful Moves is not on every night 😛 I always leave this class feeling like I can take on the world!
Absolutely love being part of this initiative- my 8 y o daughter and I are now proudly part of a community that is inclusive and encouraging as we journey to being the healthiest happiest version of ourselves. As well as having a giggle at crazy names like downward dog we are part of a group that helps us enjoy the positives in life. This place is epic!!!
